Only a handful of directors in the industry know how to make the biggest blockbusters in the business while also blowing the minds of critics and the audience alike with their work, and Christopher Nolan is one of those veterans that play on that field with his films. And one of the most praised and celebrated works of his career involves his creation of The Dark Knight trilogy, whose face could’ve been Orlando Bloom instead of Christian Bale if he hadn’t rejected the offer to go play the role of Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

During an appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, The Hobbit star was interviewed by MTV News, where he decided to reveal the unknown fact about how he had met with the Dunkirk director during the casting process for the face of Bruce Wayne in the then-upcoming Batman Begins. He also told them that he had to turn the role down because of his involvement with other franchises at that time. he said:

“I did meet with Christopher Nolan, But I didn’t audition, and it was more of a conversation of … I was in the midst of all this other stuff, and I was like, ‘I can’t,’ I love Christopher Nolan so much, I’d run, not walk, to work with him.”

Despite his desire to work with the director, his roles in The Lord of the Rings, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean, proved to be too strenuous for him to lead a major franchise.
