But, the Going In Style actor once mentioned that he wanted to do what Denzel Washington is doing in his career. While talking about his Glory co-star, the 86-year-old actor said that he is “so very envious of Denzel’s career, because he’s doing what I wanted to do.”

When Freeman says he is envious of the Man Of Fire actor’s career, he means to talk about the progress black actors have made in the industry. While talking about Black actors, the A Good Person actor said,

“When I was growing up there was no ‘me’ in the movies. If there was a black man in a movie he was funny. Until Sidney Poitier came and gave young people like me the idea that, ‘OK, yes, I can do that.’”

Freeman and Washington collaborated in the war drama movie Glory, released on 15 December 1989. Both the Bruce Almighty actor and the Fight actor received great reviews from fans and critics alike for their performance.
