Rachel McAdams was once disappointed by the performance of her movies

The Vow actress has always been very picky about her movies, which might be the reason for the commercial success of her films. Though she is very thoughtful about her projects, she is conscious of taking up a movie that pulls a massive crowd.

In an interview with The New York Times, the actress shared,

“I try to pick movies that I want to make, that offer a challenge, but that people want to see,” “Why do all that work if it’s for naught? If you act and nobody sees it, is it still acting?”

Despite giving numerous hits over the years, Rachel McAdams was once completely unsatisfied with her films. The Midnight in Paris fame believed she had yet to work in a feature that utilized her full potential and turn out to be a grand success. She told Parade,

“I wish I could just step back and watch a film I’m in and be carried away. But what I see on the screen never encapsulates the experience–that hour and a half never sums up the shooting of it and the relationships you made and the trials and tribulations. So I always am left with a sense of longing. I’m always happy with what’s there and I’m so excited when it all comes together. But it’s never representative of the whole package.”

McAdams has done some mainstream movies in the past which were commercial hits, which include Sherlock Holmes, Wedding Crashes, and Mean Girls.

The Doctor Strange fame has done numerous prominent roles in the past, nevertheless, she has also turned down numerous films that became superhits. The actress turned down a role in The Devil Wears Prada three times, which was ultimately given to Anne Hathaway. “There’s certainly things like ‘I wish I’d done that.’ I step back and go, ‘That was the right person for that.’”

She also added,

“I felt guilty for not capitalizing on the opportunity that I was being given, because I knew I was in such a lucky spot. But I also knew it wasn’t quite jiving with my personality and what I needed to stay sane. There were definitely some anxious moments of wondering if I was just throwing it all away, and why was I doing that? It’s taken years to understand what I intuitively was doing.”

The actress shared that self-reflection assisted her in realizing the reason for saying no to all of those projects.
