Things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe both on-screen and off-screen have been raising eyebrows for quite a while now. Too much content, diminishing quality, and experimental storylines have been leading to the studios’ decreasing popularity. However, these are not the only troubles facing MCU, recently the report of The Marvels‘ director, MCU’s latest upcoming project, leaving while the movie was still in post-production reportedly caught the attention of many critics and even angered MCU.

The Brie Larson starter sequel, scheduled to release on November 10 is directed by Nia DaCosta and also features two superheroes, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan. After reports of multiple reshoots and an incoherent storyline stemming from an early public test screening, it was reported that the director herself had left the site to focus on her other project.

While DaCosta’s representative did not offer any comments, a source close to the production, via Variety, stated,

“If you’re directing a $250 million movie, it’s kind of weird for the director to leave with a few months to go.”

This naturally made fans and critics curious regarding the production and some might even say that perhaps all is not well behind the scenes.

The director leaving the movie during post-production is not the only trouble facing the movie right now. As reported by Variety, the movie is expected to have an opening of just $75-$80 million, which is grossly less than what previous Marvel movies have made over the last ten years.

Furthermore, some fans have also expressed anger on social media especially X, on having a ‘female’ driven movie just to fit in the woke theme popular in the film industry now. Furthermore, the release date for the movie has already been pushed back twice and there have been reports of reshoots, which has made fans anticipate the movie would not deliver Marvel’s usual content quality for too many hands spoil the broth.

This fact was further amplified by the studio holding a public test screening in June and receiving only lukewarm reviews. Furthermore, the lack of quality CGI and VFX in the latest Marvel projects like She-Hulk and Quantumania, and the reports of workers being overworked with no extra pay, have further led to rumors that not all is well with MCU, the effects of which might project on its future projects like The Marvels.
