The DC star, who is popularly known for portraying Aquaman, is once again set to reprise his role in the sequel to the 2018 film, which will release this year. But even after this, fans are expecting to see him as Lobo.

However, as he currently portrays Arthur Curry in the DCEU, it seemed unlikely to happen. But as Gunn and Safran discarded several DCEU characters, things became quite uncertain for the future of the DCU. And now the Sweet Girl star has also hinted that he could be more than Aquaman in the DC universe.

However, it is still uncertain if Jason Momoa will continue to portray the same character in James Gunn’s DCU or not. There have been numerous rumors about the Suicide Squad director planning to introduce Lobo, the bounty hunter, in the new DCU. And fans are demanding to see the Justice League star playing the character.

During his recent interview with Variety, the Slumberland star shared that he recently had a meeting with Warner Bros. He called the meeting “very, very wonderful,” and said the studio is happy with his work.

Momoa said, “I’m in the house of Warner Bros, and they are liking a lot of stuff I’m doing. We got a lot of good things coming.” He further said that he will always be Aquaman, but he also has the potential to portray other characters.

What Could be Jason Momoa’s Future in the New DCU?

There have been numerous claims about the projects under the new DCU. James Gunn has already excluded some of the actors who portrayed the DC characters so far. However, there have been reports that the director is not planning to recast or exclude every actor under his new plan.

There are also rumors that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom could be the last film Momoa would be reprising his current DC character. However, in a recent video, the Braven star shared that he got “great news from Warner Bros.” Sharing his excitement, he said, “Peter, I love you, James, I love you.”

Seeing Momoa’s reaction to the news, it can be assumed that the news would probably be about his future in the DCU. And it could be either about him continuing to portray the King of Atlantis or getting recast as Lobo. As of now, nothing can be said for sure, but it looks like Jason Momoa is not saying goodbye to DC anytime soon.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to release on 25 December 2023.
