The 36-year-old actor has portrayed Clark Kent, aka Superman, since his 2016 debut in Supergirl, and has reprised his role across multiple CW Arrowverse shows, including Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow.

During his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, Hoechlin revealed his desire to play another DC character. When asked about future roles, he mentioned the dark knight of the DC universe, Batman.

“Am I allowed to say this? We’re not coming back for another season – Batman, there… I love Batman,” he said, as per ScreenRant. The actor also shared that he would love to portray a DC villain in the future.

Joining the Superman & Lois actor, his co-star Elizabeth Tulloch also expressed her wish to join him as Catwoman. “I’ll be your Catwoman,” the actress said before adding that she would also love to play Superwoman.

While it remains unclear if the duo will join James Gunn’s new DC Universe, fans have long considered Hoechlin a top choice for Batman after his notable portrayal of Kal-El in the Arrowverse.

I don’t think grown, I think it just evolved with the show — I think going from guest starring on the other shows and the Arrowverse and then coming into this… We had some really great conversations going into the show about how it would be different.

He also shared his appreciation for the distinct approach taken by the director Lee Toland Krieger. The actor also expressed gratitude for the time to explore and develop the character over the years.
