Greta Gerwig’s writing brilliance has been evident from the get-go of her movie career. Films like Hannah Takes the Stairs and Yeast, where she initially starred, showcased her knack for storytelling.

Even though the dialogue in those films was mostly improvised, it outshone many acclaimed screenwriters. In Lady Bird, Gerwig narrates a loosely autobiographical coming-of-age story set in Sacramento from the fall of 2002 to the fall of 2003.

Ronan dropped a bombshell about the film industry, revealing her Barbie role got unexpectedly cut from a movie. Last summer, Gerwig, the director of Barbie, spilled the beans that the film would include cameos, including one featuring Ronan.

Ronan spilled the details, saying she would’ve been a “Weird Barbie” alongside Kate McKinnon. Unfortunately, her scene didn’t make the final cut. In the same interview, Ronan explained,

“I can’t even remember now, but it was weird. I think I’d be the strange girl who talked to herself and always had her pet dog with her and always talked to the dog and wouldn’t look at anyone.”

She missed out due to scheduling conflicts while filming The Outrun. As per People, the artist disclosed,

“I was supposed to do a cameo because I live in London and they were [filming] there. There was a whole character I was going to play—another Barbie. I was gutted I couldn’t do it.”

Ronan isn’t alone; even Dan Levy had to pass on a Ken role in Barbie due to clashes in his schedule. This unexpected twist showcases the unpredictable nature of filmmaking, where even established roles can face unforeseen changes.
