And the My Spy star has finally spoken up about this. While talking to Page Six during the premiere of his latest film, Knock at the Cabin, Bautista shared why he believes he never received an offer for a romantic comedy throughout his acting career.

Dave Bautista Has Never Been Offered a Rom-Com

Dave Bautista is coming back to the big screen with the 2023 mystery horror film Knock at the Cabin. M. Night Shyamalan’s film features Bautista as Leonard, a member of the group who is assigned the responsibility to prevent the apocalypse.

The Glass Onion star represents his new side in the film as Leonard and critics have also deemed him the most interesting character in the apocalyptic mystery thriller. However, there is still so much more he wants to do and achieve as an actor.

During the premiere of his latest film, the Dune star shared that he wishes to star in a romantic comedy. He said, “I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead. I’m a little rough around the edges.” As Bautista shared that he has never been offered a romantic comedy throughout his career, he said,

“But I always, you know, I look in the mirror and I say, I ask myself, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something that unappealing about me that excludes me from these parts?’”

However, as he wishes to be one of the greatest actors of all time, Bautista said he would not stop looking for such roles. “I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep searching,” he continued. He also shared that he does not want to be known for his specific roles but wants to be recognized as an actor who can perform any character.

And ever since the Specter actor expressed his desire to star in a romantic comedy, his fans have started pitching plots. His fans have come up with some interesting plots and ideas and are cheering for their favorite actor to star in a romantic comedy soon.

Fans Cheer For Dave Bautista to Star in a Romantic Comedy

As Dave Bautista expressed his wish to star in a romantic comedy, fans have also come in support of their favorite star. Fans assured the Guardians of the Galaxy star that he is just as attractive as any other Hollywood actor, as they rooted for him to star in a romantic comedy.

Many fans even pitched plots for a romantic comedy project, hoping they would see him in one soon. The actor mentioned something similar in 2021 in a tweet, saying that being fancast in “aesthetically challenged” characters could be the reason he is not offered any “rom-com lead.”

However, with fans’ support for him, Bautista may finally get the opportunity he has been waiting for years. Dave Bautista is starring in the latest M. Night Shyamalan film alongside Rupert Grint, Abby Quinn, Jonathan Groff, and Ben Aldridge.

Knock at the Cabin is set to release on 3 February 2023.
