The One Piece series and its creator, Eiichiro Oda, have been entertaining fans for almost 30 years, and it’s highly unlikely that Oda will take up another manga series after the end of his magnum opus. However, he once jokingly mentioned a sequel series called “Two Piece,” which would have most likely followed the story of Luffy’s son.

Ever since the One Piece fans heard this news, they have been against the creation of the sequel series. The main reason behind this is Masashi Kishimoto’s magnum opus, Naruto, and its sequel series, Boruto. The reception and story of Boruto have forced One Piece fans to be scared of the sequel to Oda’s series.

One Piece Sequel Might Be a Possibility

According to the popular One Piece fan account @sandman_AP on X (formerly Twitter), in 2020, Oda jokingly said he wanted to draw a manga called Two Piece after One Piece ends.

While it is highly unlikely for Oda to draw something like this, there is still hope that this can be a possibility and fans could get a sequel series.

Over the course of 27 years, Oda has introduced so many mysteries and puzzles that it might prove to be a difficult task to reveal all of them in the final saga of One Piece. Although some of these mysteries are short and simple, others are complex and might need a proper explanation to catch One Piece fans up to speed.

Therefore, there is a scenario where Oda could reveal most of the mysteries but keep others a secret and follow them up in a sequel series. The narrative of One Piece’s sequel will most likely focus on Luffy’s son and his adventures as the child of the King of Pirates. It would be similar to Masashi Kishimoto’s Boruto, which is the story of Naruto’s child.

One Piece Fans Are Not Ready for The Sequel Series

Although “Two Piece” would follow an interesting narrative, One Piece fans are not ready for a sequel to their favorite series. It would change the whole dynamic of Eiichiro Oda’s masterwork and could also affect the rating of One Piece, just like it did with Naruto.

This is why fans are scared of a One Piece sequel. As soon as the trolling news of Oda wanting to work on a sequel was shared, One Piece fans collectively expressed their fear of a flop sequel that would destroy the original’s legacy.

Some fans even stated that they would lead a full-blown protest against Oda and Shueisha to stop the creation of something like this.

Oda, working on a One Piece sequel, would ruin his plan of drawing short stories after One Piece ends. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that One Piece would get a sequel series. However, there is a chance that Oda could portray the story of other characters from the series that have become fan favorites over the years.
