In 2003, director Paul Haggis signed her for the role of Jean Cabot, wife of District Attorney Rick Cabot, played by actor Brendan Fraser. The Demolition Man movie star revealed that when she initially read the screenplay, without any second guessing told the director to sign her for any one of the women roles in the movie.

“I read Crash, and I told Paul, I’ll play any one of the women just to be in the movie. It was only four days of work, and it was totally re-inspiring.” 

One of the reasons Sandra Bullock agreed to work in Crash was that she only had four days of work, as she briefly appeared in the movie, which received six Academy Award nominations upon its release and earned $98.4 million at the global box office.

In a tell-all interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, Sandra Bullock revealed she decided to take a break from her acting career, claiming she took her professional career so seriously that she missed spending time with her family.

“I can be creative, I can be part of a community, but right now, working in front of the camera needs to take a pause. I want to be at home. So I’m not doing anyone any favors who’s investing in a project if I’m saying, ‘I just want to be at home. Because I was always running, I was always running to the next thing. I just want to be present and responsible for one thing.”

Sandra Bullock previously told EW that she took her acting job too seriously, and now it’s time she wants to spend more time with her children, Louis and Laila, and less time in front of the camera.
