Michael Caine has been one of the finest actors in Hollywood that the world has ever seen. From starring in iconic movies such as Interstellar and The Prestige, Caine has spent a whopping 73 years in Hollywood.
In a recent interview, the actor admitted that he is “sort of” retiring from the world of acting. Blaming old age for his conditions, Michael Caine admitted that he cannot walk properly and all but he has no regrets regarding the decision!
Michael Caine Announces His “Sort of” Retirement
Being born in 1933, the actor is 90 years old and the horrors of old age have indeed reached the actor. From not being able to walk properly to falling and losing balance, Michael Caine is experiencing all of this because of his old age.
In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Caine admitted that he was 90 years old and that he couldn’t walk properly anymore. The actor stated that he is posing a sort of retirement on himself with his last role in the upcoming movie titled The Great Escaper.
“I am bloody 90 now, and I can’t walk properly and all that. I sort of am retired now.”
He further talked about his role in the upcoming movie which depicts a World War II veteran seeking out of his care home to attend the 70th anniversary commemoration of the D-Day landings in Normandy.
“I was so happy to do it. I just loved the character of Bernie. I thought he was incredible, and it’s so beautifully written. With Covid and all that, I hadn’t done a picture for three years, and I thought I was finished. And I suddenly did it — and had such a wonderful time. They gave me a very good walking stick, and I was able to do scenes that needed that. I’d just do them once, and then fall over. But just one take, and that’s it. Forget it.”
In his continued interview, Michael Caine stated that he is very satisfied with his life and even proudly boasted that he got to live till the age of 90!
Michael Caine Lived To Be Bloody 90!
As Caine continued to talk, he realized that this was no ordinary feat. Caine emphasized the fact that he got to live till 90 years! In his talks with the Telegraph, the actor was proud of his life and stated that everyone was going to join him eventually.
“But I’m quite happy. I’m sitting here writing, doing my thing. I like it. I have two children, three grandchildren and a wife… Everyone’s going to join me eventually. No one’s going to say, ‘I’m so sorry you’re going to die — I wish you were like me and not going to die.’ Everybody’s going to die. At least I’ve lived to f*cking 90; I didn’t die at 9, or 19 or 29. I’m 90, and I’ve had the best possible life I could have thought of.”
Michael Caine’s alleged final movie titled The Great Escaper is set for a release date of 6th October 2023 in the U.K. The film will also star Glenda Jackson with Oliver Parker set as the director.
