Gears of War E-Day is the next title in the popular franchise that has a rather rich lore. A part of that is the Carmine family, which is synonymous with bravery and service for the COG. Unfortunately, throughout installments, their dedication has had a hefty price. In almost every Gears of War, at least one Carmine brother met its tragic end.

However, the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel in the Gears games timeline and is a glimmer of hope for the Carmine family with a chance to set the Carmine brothers up for triumph. In addition to Clayton, the game can introduce another brother and give fans the Twin Grub killers squad.

Carmine Family Has Been a Staple in the Franchise

In every mainline Gears of War game except Gears of War 3 and Judgement, at least one Carmine brother meets a tragic demise. Anthony, the eldest, fell victim to a jammed Lancer during the evacuation of Jacinto. Benjamin, the youngest, suffered a fatal grenade mishap early in the war. However, the fate of the unnamed fourth brother remains shrouded in mystery.

Now, Clayton Carmine, the sole survivor by Gears of War 3, was heading towards the same faith as his brothers. However, Epic Games started a unique fan vote poll to decide Clayton’s fate. In a heart-wrenching moment, the community voted to save him, which broke the curse at the same time.

Since Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel, there is a chance to revisit characters that haven’t received their time to shine yet. With Clayton in the fight against Locust and an unnamed brother, there is a chance for a Twin Grub Killer squad which some fans want.

There is a chance that the prequel game will rewrite the Carmine brothers curse. This has sparked hope within the community as fans are arguing for a potential Twin Grub Killers squad. This would mean Clayton and another Carmine brother fighting side-by-side against the Locust.

While fans want the unnamed fourth brother to appear, some want to see other Carmine family members, such as an uncle or even the patriarch of the unfortunate family, who would want to avenge Will Carmine who died on E-day.

The possibilities are seemingly limitless since the family has a rich lore within the Gears of War. The family consists of some members who weren’t soldiers and extended family members whose history hasn’t been addressed much.

Fans are even hoping for a Clayton spin-off game since Epic hasn’t revealed much about his background and can use the character for whatever story they want. Moreover, fans hope to see Anthony and Ben as children in this upcoming prequel.

One thing is clear, E-Day is a golden opportunity to break the Carmine brothers curse as the players witness their victory in the upcoming game.
