Ryan Reynolds is currently acing it as the star of the game in the entertainment industry. Besides his baffling acting chops and incredibly witty persona that leaves everyone in awe of him, he has also been putting his out-of-the-box and outstandingly creative marketing skills to use lately, bringing about results that many others could only dream of.
With him making such efficient use of his skills and reaching extraordinary heights of success, Marvel legend Rob Liefeld now wants Reynolds to serve as the producer of one movie that fans have been wanting for ages now: A movie starring Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau. And, after Tatum’s cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, this happening seems more likely than ever.
Rob Liefeld Wants Ryan Reynolds to Produce Solo Gambit Movie
Recently, Deadpool 3 made its way onto the big screens and has been excelling with such great success that must have surpassed even Marvel’s expectations of it. Becoming the second movie of 2024 to cross the $1 billion mark at global box offices (via Box Office Mojo), it seems like the team’s hard work most definitely paid off—especially that of Reynolds.
Serving as a writer, producer, and actor in the film, Ryan Reynolds did an immaculate job at not only ensuring to bring something worthwhile to the table but also making sure that it was seen and heard by the fans with his excellent marketing skills. And it seems like this trait of his has impressed a Marvel legend so much that he wants the actor to produce a solo Gambit film.
In an exclusive turn of events, comic book creator Rob Liefeld, who gave birth to the fan-favorite Merc with a Mouth in the first place, took to X to share a crucial piece of advice that could actually help bring the MCU back to the race. In this advice, he also expressed that he wants Reynolds to produce Channing Tatum’s Remy LeBeau in a movie.
Via his X handle @robertliefeld, he expressed his heartiest desires-
If I’m Bob Iger, I’m giving Ryan a huge producing deal that finds him producing the Blade Legacy film, Channing’s Gambit as well as a Deadpool & Wolverine sequel. This isn’t brain surgery.
And, of course, Liefeld isn’t wrong. Judging from the notably commendable work the Free Guy star did on his exclusive masterpiece for the cinematic superhero universe, handing the producing reigns to him for Channing Tatum‘s solo film as Remy LeBeau would inevitably be one of the best decisions taken by Marvel and Disney to date.
Plus, since Tatum has already made his debut and won over the hearts of millions as the card-playing mutant superhero through his cameo appearance in Deadpool 3, the demand to see him return in the role has increased more than ever before—even more so than when it was when his film originally bit the dust after being greenlit and lighting up Tatum’s hopes.
With this being put out there, now would be the perfect time to bring the fan-favorite mutant back into the game.
Fans React to Rob Liefeld’s Perfectly Planned Advice
All of this being said, it would do the studios more good than harm by taking up and adhering to Liefeld’s crucial bit of advice and letting Reynolds take control for a while. And, unsurprisingly enough, fans are supporting his opinion to the core as well, justifying just how necessary and fruitful this one decision could end up proving to be for the franchise.
Taking to X, here’s what fans are saying:
Needless to say, these reactions further justify that the only thing fans really want is more entertaining content similar to what Reynolds just delivered. That said, maybe it’s time Kevin Feige and Bob Iger actually took this advice seriously and finally developed that solo Gambit film with Tatum in the lead and Reynolds producing, much to fans’ contentment.
