From its casting decisions and narrative approach to remaining loyal to the original source material, loyal fans had countless bones to pick when it came to the nine-episode season one of Halo. Based on the video game of the same name and inspired by a plethora of written works, the show was cruelly reprimanded by the numerous loyal fans of the video game.

With its season two release this year, the series star, Pablo Schreiber, has some amends to make. True that the show was well received by certain groups, Schreiber, in a new interview with ComicBook.com, still asked the loyal fans of the video game series to give the show another chance.

“As far as what to say to gamers, come on back and see the differences between Season 1 and Season 2 and see if you like it… The show was incredibly well received internationally as well as domestically, but the numbers we did internationally for Paramount Plus are off the charts and insane… And now, it’s about creating the kind of show that we all can be the most proud of… I’m going to push that until I die or until I’m asked to leave. I want to make the best show possible, and I want to try to surround myself with people that are helping do that.”

Well, despite his comments and extreme dedication to the show, fans aren’t all too happy about him or his casting, many of whom soon took to X to express their disappointment.

Master Chief’s Helmet Is Still Coming Off In Halo S2

One of the ongoing controversies of Halo season 1 was the many scenes featuring Master Chief without his helmet, despite it not being like that in the video games. Fans of the video game repeatedly took offense to it, stating that the show was deviating from the original source material.

Earlier, while talking to GameRadar’s SFX Magazine, Pablo Schreiber, who portrays Chief, had stated,

“People who don’t feel the helmet was necessary to come off, they’re at such an early conception of what the show could be. In order to examine the discrepancy between these two versions of the character [Chief and John-117], you can’t tell that story without taking the helmet off. If you don’t agree with the helmet coming off in the show, you don’t like our show. So, there’s no point discussing it.”

And now, as he begs fans to give season two another chance, Schreiber, while at a press interview for Halo season two, stated (via ComicBook.com),

“Well, that one you’ll have to get used to. We established that the first episode. That was going to happen. That’s what our show’s about. It’s about exploring the dynamic between John and Master Chief. So if you’re not on board with that one, you might as well give up.”

As fans, anti-fans, and critics wait for season two to be released, it will be worth watching whether the new season can put a rest to the numerous controversies surrounding it or would yet again end up becoming another failed adaptation.
