While many fans celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl match, some were in disbelief over Travis Kelce‘s rude behavior towards his coach, Andy Reid. Swifties did not let this incident go unnoticed and took to social media to bash the Chiefs Running Back. Several Taylor Swift fans perceived this as a red flag in the couple’s relationship, citing Kelce’s anger issues.
One fan on X predicted that the new couple was going to split before the end of summer if not sooner. Another fan was concerned about how Kelce would treat the Cruel Summer singer in private if he treated his coach like this in public. One comment asked the NFL star to grow out of his “obnoxious behavior”, adding that he didn’t deserve Taylor Swift.
One fan called him “angry”, “classless”, and a huge “red flag” for Swift, while another predicted that the Anti-Hero singer’s next album dedicated to her potential breakup with Kelce was going to be interesting. However, one comment defending Kelce shared that while the Chiefs player showed such anger on the field previously, he had no history of any violent behavior outside of the game.

People not knowing Travis Kelce’s history of bad temper and throwing tantrums are speaking out about the red flag and Taylor Swift should dump him.

It was not just Swifties who were taken aback by Travis Kelce’s violent outburst. A source told Daily Mail that Taylor Swift and her friends were surprised and concerned by this side of him. They believed that the tight end should have “handled himself with a bit more dignity”. The source shared, “This was his first red flag as far as Taylor’s friends are concerned, and even Taylor seemed a bit surprised.”
Travis Kelce Initially Downplayed The Incident But Later Apologized
Both Travis Kelce and Andy Reid downplayed the incident in the post-match interviews. When CBS asked what transpired on the field, Kelce joked, “I was just telling him how much I love him.” Reid told ESPN that Kelce had apologized to him after the match (via BBC). However, he later reflected on the incident on a more serious note on his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce.
Kelce shared that his behavior with Coach Reid was “unacceptable”. He shared that the outburst came at a point when he and the team weren’t playing very well in the game. He revealed that Reid came up to him and talked to him after the incident and he didn’t even have any harsh words for Kelce. Travis Kelce shared with Jason Kelce:
“I can’t get that fired up to the point where bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff. It came in a moment when we weren’t playing very well and I wasn’t playing very well. It’s definitely unacceptable and I immediately wished I could have taken it back. Coach Reid actually came right up to me after that and didn’t even have harsh words for me.”
Jason Kelce also criticized his brother’s behavior and shared on the podcast that the Chiefs player “crossed the line.” Jason Kelce played two seasons under Coach Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles. Travis Kelce revealed that Andy Reid had every right to respond to his outburst physically. He could only hope that Taylor Swift’s fans forgive him eventually.
