In 2022, Emma Watson took to the stage for presenting the award of Best Outstanding British Film at the Royal Albert Hall. After her brief introduction by host Rebel Wilson, Beauty and The Beast actress made a savage dig at the best-selling author, Rowling for her viral comments on transgender women.

For the unversed, author Rowling was been widely criticized for her controversial comments about the trans community. The incident happened when she publicly shared her disapproval of certain transgender terminology.

In June 2020, Rowling took to Twitter to share with her followers about having an issue with the term “people who menstruate” being used instead of women.

Rowling added that she respects every trans person’s right to live in any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. Rowling said her issues are because of being a survivor of abuse, which is concerned about single-s*x spaces. She further wrote,

“I’m mentioning these things now not in an attempt to garner sympathy, but out of solidarity with the huge numbers of women who have histories like mine, who’ve been slurred as bigots for having concerns around single-s*x spaces.”

Harry Potter‘s leading trio Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, along with Fantastic Beasts franchise Eddie Redmayne, spoke out against Rowling’s controversial views.
