The Greatest Showman has some intense lip-locking scenes between Zendaya and Zac Efron. Talking to the press for the film, the actor said, “I’m pretty lucky.” Efron was asked if he had any contractual requirement to kiss his costars, to which he responded, “I’m in no contractual obligation to kiss anyone, I just get to kiss a lot of cool people.”

Earlier, the High School Musical actor kissed quite a lot of popular female celebrities on screen. But the actor revealed that his kiss with Zendaya was his favorite on-screen kiss. “This might be my favorite kiss, I think ever,” Efron said.

“Just because at this point for these characters, it’s so built up, the tension between them is so strong, and literally, just a glance between them is electric.”

“And when they finally have the courage in that moment to finally connect and get that kiss, it’s that epic musical moment,” he added.

Further, Efron was fascinated and surprised to work with the Euphoria star. Talking to Glamour Magazine UK, the actor revealed that he was blown away seeing Zendaya doing her own stunts, “The first time I walked in, it was her doing it.”

Zendaya’s character Anne, a trapeze artist, and Efron playing an associate of P.T. Barnum (Hugh Jackman) named Phillip are quite important for the narrative of the movie. They have a few integral lip-locks in the film. While describing her kiss with Efron, the Euphoria actor said, “It’s not a normal kiss.” “This kiss is very special not just because it’s two actors kissing,” she told Yahoo Australia.

“In the context of the movie, it’s very brave and honestly dangerous. There’s something special about it in that way.”

Further, the actor revealed that there is much greater implication behind the kissing of the characters which also includes a racial representation in the film’s narrative.

“A big part of my character’s storyline, the reason that she is an oddity, is that she and her brother are black. That is what makes them different,” Zendaya told InStyle. “It all gets halted when she starts falling for someone who’s white,” she said.

“I’m biracial, so there are so many [shared] experiences there. I think it’s a cool side storyline. It’s something that you get invested in.”

But Zendaya admired Efron saying that he “was a great partner.” “Because we body-slammed into each other. We were trying to hold onto each other. But he was always there, always super supportive,” she told British Vogue.

Zendaya is set to appear in Dune: Part Two which is slated for the 3 November 2023 release. She will also appear in Luca Guadagnino’s romantic sports comedy Challengers. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on 11 August 2023.
