Now, in a recent interview, actress Elizabeth Olsen clarified her MCU future, but her words probably won’t give fans much hope. It seems like she could join Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and more who have departed the superhero franchise.

In a recent interview with Variety, Elizabeth Olsen was asked if she was coming back to the MCU. To this, she said, “I’m not ‘returning’ to anything right now. I’m not doing anything for Marvel. Nothing, and it’s not that I’m trying to be cheeky. They’ll let me know when they’ll let me know.” So it seems like Marvel hasn’t contacted Olsen for any appearances till now.

Fans speculated that Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch could return in the upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos Disney+ series, but nothing has been confirmed officially or even leaked from trusted sources yet. However, there’s another question on fans’ minds.

Does Olsen miss being in the Marvel universe? Not really, as per the Love and Death actress. She said:

“Do I miss it? I don’t miss it. I just did two years straight of it. I think the break’s been good for me. I need to build other characters. It’s important for me. I’m grateful for this show [Love & Death] because it came at a great time — after playing Wanda for two years straight, and then I had to talk about it for another year. So it’s nice having something else to focus on and highlight.”

So the Scarlet Witch actress is glad to have this break so that she can focus on other projects. Her fans should be happy for her because, in a The New York Times interview, she highlighted how she lost out on other projects due to her Marvel commitments. She said, “It took me away from the physical ability to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things I enjoyed as an audience member.”

So with Olsen not missing the MCU and Marvel not contacting her yet, could it mean that she could join the likes of Scarlett Johansson soon enough?

In an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow on The Goop Podcast, Scarlett Johansson said that for her the MCU chapter was closed. She said, “I’m done. Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also coming back and playing a character again and again, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”

Now, fans fear Elizabeth Olsen could join her soon enough. After all, even though Scarlet Witch was the villain for a major portion of Doctor Strange 2, in the end, the film did redeem her. So it begs the question- is this the end for Wanda Maximoff? Or will the actress return in the future?

Olsen didn’t say that she was done with the MCU. Just that Marvel hadn’t called her up till now. So it seems like a return is in the cards but that probably isn’t going to happen soon. For now, the star is enjoying a break and focusing on other projects. There’s rampant speculation that Wanda Maximoff could appear in Doctor Strange 3 and Avengers: Secret Wars. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.

WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2 are streaming on Disney+.
