“I’m not in it as consistently”: Sex Education Star Emma Mackey Reveals Disheartening News for the Fans Ahead of Season 4

Sex Education star Emma Mackey has confirmed that she will not have much screentime in the fourth season of the Netflix show. Sex Education is a popular Netflix comedy-drama and has had three successful seasons on the streaming platform. After the release of season three, Netflix announced that students of Moordale High would return with season four.  There are not many details available about the upcoming season, but Moordale High is expected to have some new faces in the fourth season. Many actors from the last season are also expected to reprise their respective roles.

Emma Mackey, who plays Maeve in the teen drama, has recently revealed some details about the show. The Barbie actor said that the story would be more spread out, and more characters will be joining the show for its fourth and possibly final season.

Emma Mackey Will Have a Reduced Role in Sex Education Season 4

Emma Mackey has been playing Maeve in the Netflix original since its first season. During her recent interview with Radio Times, Mackey talked about what to expect from the upcoming season. The Eiffel star revealed that she is super excited to return and continue Maeve’s story. 

However, Mackey revealed that she may have a reduced role in the upcoming season. The actress did not go into the details of why her role would be reduced, but she said she is excited and thrilled about the show. She said, “I’m not in it as consistently. But we’re in the middle of filming now, and I’m excited to be back.”

The Emily star also shared that the story would spread out as season four has more characters. The show is in the middle of filming, and Mackey stated that she is also curious to know what would happen next as she doesn’t know it all and is finding out as the filming goes ahead.

Will Season 4 be the Final Season of Sex Education?

The news of Mackey’s reduced role came as a disappointment to fans as several actors have already confirmed that they won’t be returning for another season. However, they were still relieved that show leads Asa Butterfield as Otis, Ncuti Gatwa as Eric, and Emma Mackey as Maeve would still be in the upcoming season.

They were also expected to be the main focus of the series. With the new revelation, there is a possibility that they will not be the primary focus of Sex Education Season 4.

It is also speculated that Otis, Eric, and Maeve might not be the primary focus of season four. Netflix has not confirmed that season 4 will be the final season. So, there might be a possibility that season four would introduce new characters and follow up with them in season five of the show. 

Netflix has also not revealed a release date for Sex Education Season 4.
