The Karate Kid (2010) showed Jackie Chan in a completely different avatar. He once said in a BBC News interview that he happened to be like Jaden Smith’s young Dre Parker, but not exactly in the same context.

The film accumulated $351 million and went on to be a commercial success. Jackie Chan, along with his co-star, attended the Lopez Tonight Show shortly after the release of the film.

He had a lot to say about Smith’s father Will Smith and how they got together to make plans for rebooting the franchise. He also recalled a funny incident that he experienced when he spoke to Smith about the film.

“Jackie Chan, well, first of all, welcome back. I loved you in this movie, I saw it last night. How did you get the call to make this movie?” – asked Lopez.

“Uh, Will Smith. Yeah, a few years ago, I was in a Japanese restaurant, and I was sitting in the room, and somebody said Will is outside. I said, ‘Yeah? Then I go Will, hi.’”

Smith, according to Jackie Chan, was suddenly interested in making a film with him. “Yeah yeah yeah, everybody sees me, it’s Hollywood,” he joked.

George Lopez lowkey hyped Jackie Chan among the audience when he didn’t believe what the actor had to say about picking fights.

“No one has ever, in your life, tried to pick a fight with you. Is that true? Nobody has ever picked a fight with Jackie Chan” – asked Lopez.

“Yes, why, why? Because I never say I’m the super fighter. In the movie everybody can beat me, women can slap me, I feel pain, I bleed. No. I’m not like a hero,” he chuckled. “So, this is why everybody just adores me.”

Lopez even displayed some of the BTS footage from The Karate Kid, which showed how Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith filmed scenes, while a caring Will Smith watched from afar. “I got my eye on you, Jackie Chan,” joked Smith.
