Jason Momoa looks fully glowed up for an upcoming DCU update. Although the Aquaman fame revealed nothing about the news except his uncontrollable excitement, fans hope it’s about Lobo. The speculations about Lobo have been there since the change of DC leadership and all the significant changes that followed it. But now with James Gunn’s response to Momoa’s excitement, the fans are fully hyped up to see if it’s Lobo or something else.
The changes in the DCU leadership should have been a very well-versed topic to every pop culture fan till now. The whole merger and the changes on the high table led to various big names such as Henry Cavill and Dwayne Johnson out from the bandwagon with the future of several other characters in limbo.
Jason Momoa looks pumped up for his DCU future
Despite Jason Momoa returning for Aquaman 2 this year, there have been active speculations that he will be recast as Lobo. This update gained more attention as both Momoa and Gunn at various moments have hinted at the character’s debut on the big screens.
Recently, in an Instagram story, the Game of Thrones actor expressed his excitement regarding his future in the company. He was spotted extremely pumped up about some “good news” and stated his love for James Gunn, Peter Safran, and the WBD CEO David Zaslav.
“I got some really good news. Great news with Warner Bros. Amazing. Wish I could tell you, but here it is. Peter [Safran], I love you. James [Gunn], I love you. David [Zaslvav]… To the future, to the future.”
When a DC enthusiast tweeted the video and asked The Suicide Squad director if it’s Lobo or Aquaman, James Gunn replied without revealing much about anything.

By looking at the fate of the other characters from the previous DC regime, it is highly unlikely that Jason Momoa might not reprise his role as Arthur Curry. James Gunn also stated that DC will go through a reboot with reports of the upcoming The Flash storyline triggering it. Moreover, with the current advancements in the DCU, the fate of the Aquaman franchise will be debatable until official reports arrive.
The fans are sure about Lobo
The fans have high hopes that the cause of Jason Momoa’s excitement is Lobo. Even though some fans still believe that he can return to his Aquaman role or make a DCU debut with some other character but Lobo’s anticipations dominated above all.

As reflected by the Tweets, it can’t be denied that Jason Momoa’s Aquaman will be missed. But as for the official updates regarding the upcoming DCU era, James Gunn hasn’t announced anything yet. Except for the update about Gunn writing a new Superman project, nothing more has come out from the upcoming DCU era. The updates are scheduled to release this month only and it can be hoped that they will be released within the upcoming few weeks.
Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, the last project to be released which was made under the previous DCEU regime will hit the theaters on December 25, 2023.
