The most surprising of them all was Henry Cavill Ben Affleck’s DCEU exit. Superman star Cavill and Batman actor Affleck’s exit was undoubtedly unceremonious but Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot was rumored to be in the mix of the actors to exit from the studio. However, she could be sticking around for a while.

Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince and Henry Cavill’s Superman have crossed paths on a few occasions, most notably, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. However, Cavill’s co-star seemed to forget the Superman actor’s DC exit while addressing the casting of the new Superman and other characters for James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. Talking to  ComicBook.com, Gadot celebrated the new stars of the movie.

“I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don’t know who got it, but it seemed like everyone was super legit and talented and, like, great. So I’m happy for them. It’s such a huge take-on and it’s such an exciting beginning to any actor, and I wish whoever it’s going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride.”

Gunn casts several actors for several DC roles in his upcoming slate or future DC projects. David Corenswet replaced Cavill as Superman. Also, almost the entire DC setup of actors for major or minor roles is changing. It is safe to say that DC is experimenting right now and only time will tell what the future holds.

What About Wonder Woman 3?

When the first installment of Wonder Woman directed by Patty Jenkins came out in 2017, it went on to create records as the movie became DC’s highest-grossing female-led superhero movie and ranked second to all female-led superhero movies. Wonder Woman was a great success and the franchise holds the character’s essence in the DC Universe.

Following the news of Cavill and Ben Affleck’s exit from DC, many speculated that Gadot was going to be replaced. However, she has not done playing the character as there is no confirmation from the studio regarding her DC departure rather, she gave the fans a hint at possible Wonder Woman 3.  “I love portraying Wonder Woman,” Gadot said of playing Diana.

“It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together,” Gadot confirmed of the third Wonder Woman movie.

At this point, there is no Wonder Woman project slated in DC’s Gods and Monsters, chapter one of the Universe. So, it is still unclear if Gadot is reprising her role again. However, a Wonder Woman TV project is at work in Max. The epic adventure series, Paradise Lost, will revolve around the origin story Themiscyra. Gunn is also interested in developing a Wonder Woman animated series.

Gal Gadot is all set to appear in Harper’s Netflix thriller Heart of Stone, scheduled for release on 11 August 2023.
