Tom Cruise is one of the most talented and influential actors in Hollywood. Along with being well-known for doing some of the most ridiculous and dangerous stunts himself, best seen in his work in the Mission: Impossible franchise, he has made a name for himself as being an exceptionally skilled actor, having starred in massive projects like the Top Gun franchise, Jerry Maguire, Day and Knight, and Vanilla Sky.

Outside of his professional achievements, Cruise is well-known for his cheery and light-hearted personality. It would seem that this may have gotten out of hand when the Oscar nominee was working on his movie, The Outsiders.

Tom Cruise And His Co-Stars In The Outsiders Pulled A Whole Lot Of Pranks On Each Other

Tom Cruise starred in the 1983 movie, The Outsiders, alongside Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, and C. Thomas Howell, who were all extremely young at the time, with Cruise being only 21 years old. The entire cast resided at the Excelsior Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They may have not been the best idea as the younger actors had the tendency of pulling some really ridiculous pranks on each other. Howell, who was 15 at the time of filming, recalled that he would fall victim to the most amount of pranks as he was on set quite a lot, being the narrator of the movie.

“I remember one early morning, probably having worked all night,” Howell said. “I stumbled into my hotel room ready to go to sleep and literally everything in my hotel room, from a penny to my bed, had been turned upside down.”

He went on to say the rest of the members would try to forge relationships with the hotel staff in order to obtain an advantage through things like room keys. Howell mentioned an instance where he entered his hotel room, only to discover that everything had been turned upside down. Howell wasn’t the only cast member subject to these pranks, as they went to great lengths to get at each other. From putting honey on someone’s toilet seat to writing something scary on someone’s mirror and even putting petroleum jelly on door handles to make them slippery.

Tom Cruise Apologized For Pulling These Pranks Years Later

One can only imagine how frustrating and annoying these pranks must have been for the people who worked at these hotels. From having to clear up messes every other day to having to re-organize furniture, their jobs do not sound easy, specifically with the pranks Tom Cruise and his cast mates of The Outsiders were pulling on each other.

“I’m sorry” he said.

It would seem, however, Cruise also understood this after some time as a year later, the actor was introduced to someone who used to work at the Excelsior Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma around the time that the cast was residing there. The first thing that Cruise said to this person when he heard this was that he was sorry, knowing all of the chaos that they must have caused.
