Hudson had once shared that there might be a possibility for a sequel to the 2003 feature film. But are Ben and Andie ready to make a comeback with their “do’s” and “don’ts” and make the audiences fall in love once more? Even if the movie was not able to charm the critics, the box office collection spoke of how the lead couple’s chemistry was more than enough to charm the fans, and that is why, a sequel might not be a bad idea. After all, the rom-com genre might be gearing up for a comeback itself.

Due to talks of a sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, people wanted to know what the lead actress of the film had to say about it. Talking to Vanity Fair during the movie’s 20th anniversary, Hudson said:

People always ask us [about a sequel] but there’s nothing in the works. I love working with Matthew, so I’m sure at some point we’ll work together again.

She further added:

My hope is that [Andie and Ben] are happy, they’ve got a bunch of kids, they got married, and they’re still playing Bullsh-t with his parents. If there was a sequel, I’m sure there would be some conflict in there somewhere.

Most of the cast had gotten together to share their experience of doing such an iconic movie that became a blueprint for rom-coms at the time. And still, it remains one of the very best movies to have come out of that genre.

Are We Really Getting a Sequel to the 2003 Movie?

Matthew McConaughey started his career with rom-coms, but soon after, his focus shifted to more serious and savvy roles. Gone were the days of his Southern allure that had the women falling head over heels for his romantic prowess. While the allure and the charm remains, this time he had us all captivated with his talent that shined brighter in projects like Dallas Buyers Club, True Detective, and A Time to Kill.

So it might be a stretch for him to get back in the groove of all things romantic comedy. But as Kate Hudson recently said while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, if there is a good script, then that elevates the possibility of a sequel for her as well as McConaughey. When asked if there were any thoughts for a sequel, Hudson said (via Deadline):

I think they’re always thinking about that. All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I would be into the script.

Whether we end up getting a sequel or not, the original movie will always be there to cheer us up and give us all the feel-good memories that we have of the story and the couple. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is available on Apple TV and Paramount+.
