Colman started the conversation in a Welsh accent by telling Paul Rudd that she was a massive fan of his and then proceeded to ask for advice on a hypothetical situation. She asked what someone should do if they had a friend who had been close for over two decades, but that friend came to England without informing them.

“Hi Paul, I’m a huge fan. I wanted to pick your brains. What would you do if you had a really good mate, like for over 20 years, and this friend, he doesn’t live in England, but he’s come to England but he hasn’t told you about it.”

Not only did the friend not tell them about the visit, but they also appeared on a radio show. Colman inquired about what should one do in such a scenario.:

“Then, not only has he not told you about it, he’s come on to a radio show. What would you do?”

As the caller spoke, Rudd grew increasingly uneasy, sensing that something was not quite right.

“Oh my God. Oh no.”

When Colman asked if he would be offended, Paul Rudd responded with an “Absolutely not.”:

“Personally, if it’s me? Absolutely not. I tend to give everybody the benefit of the doubt.”

The caller revealed that her friend was in fact Olivia Colman, and Rudd was stunned.

“I’m sweating, I’m actually sweating.”

Soon after the two friends engaged in a lively conversation on the air. They reminisced about the time they spent together when they were both struggling actors, and Colman teased Rudd about his newfound fame and fortune.

Despite the initial shock of the surprise call, it was clear that the two friends were happy to reconnect and catch up. As Colman pointed out on the show, she and Rudd had remained close despite living on opposite sides of the Atlantic and pursuing very different careers. In fact, Rudd even offered to have dinner with the English actress.
