Love tends to make people do absurd things. From being giddy 24/7 and grinning like an idiot to sacrificing millions, there’s no end to the lengths one would go to for their significant other. And it looks like Millie Bobby Brown placed herself on the more extreme end of the scale as she allegedly dropped a huge chunk of money just weeks before announcing her shocking engagement with her boyfriend of 2.5 years.

The British actress, who garnered recognition as Eleven in The Duffer brothers’ sci-fi drama series Stranger Things, reportedly turned down a spin-off film that was offering her a fat paycheck of roughly $12.2 million to star in it. And while she claimed that she’s keen on focusing more on the other opportunities life has in store for her, it might just be possible that her unforeseen engagement with Jake Bongiovi could have had a significant role to play in her rumored decision.

Millie Bobby Brown Gets Engaged Weeks After Dropping $12.2 Million Project

After a glorious run of 4 seasons, Stranger Things is approaching its end with the 5th and last season set to conclude the Netflix series. But while the show itself is close to its finale, rumor has it that a Stranger Things spin-off film is apparently in the talks. While the veracity of the same is yet to be confirmed, one thing’s clear, Millie Bobby Brown won’t be a part of that project if and when it does happen.

The Primetime Emmy Award nominee reportedly refused a paycheck of around $12.2 million because she wishes to “branch out into other roles,” as per The Daily Mail. The news came just a few weeks before Brown, 19, got engaged to Jake Bongiovi, the son of the renowned singer and songwriter, Jon Bon Jovi.

While the Enola Holmes star’s alleged decision to not partake in a Stranger Things spin-off project is most likely to be from the perspective of her career, Brown’s romantic life could also have had some part in it, that is if she plans on settling down or has a wedding awaiting her in the foreseeable future. One can never tell.

Irrespective of that though, Brown is absolutely certain about the fact that her journey as Eleven will come to an end after the last season of Stranger Things.

Why Millie Bobby Brown Wants to Bid Farewell to Stranger Things

The first season of Netflix’s Stranger Things kicked off all the way back in 2016 and its last season is expected to air during the latter part of 2024, considering production will commence soon in the upcoming months. That means, Millie Bobby Brown has been a part of the show for about 7 years, starting off when she was only 12 years old. So, it’s not the most outrageous idea for the Godzilla vs. Kong star to peer out for more opportunities in the industry.

Speaking to Seventeen, Brown talked about the same as she explained how she’s ready to “say goodbye to this chapter of [her] life” as Stranger Things‘ last season inches closer. “I’m definitely ready to wrap up,” she said. “I feel like there’s a lot of the story that’s been told now, and we know of it, it’s been in our lives for a very long time.”

That being said, a new fantasy/drama film helmed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo titled Damsel, starring Brown along with the likes of Angela Bassett and Nick Robinson, is already set to release this October.
