While speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on The Tonight Show, Sam Rockwell was asked about rumors that Justin Hammer might come back in the upcoming MCU project Armor Wars starring Don Cheadle. Hammer revealed that he is just waiting for the phone call to happen, making it clear he is ready to return.

Well, I’m waiting for the phone call.”

The last time audiences saw Justin Hammer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he was still in prison after his arrest in Iron Man 2. Hammer had orchestrated the release of Ivan Vanko’s Whiplash to challenge Tony Stark with arc reactor-powered suits. However, by the end of the 2010 film, Hammer was arrested. We will have to wait and see whether Justin Hammer will finally make his return in Armor Wars.

The rumor mill was churning last year, as it was claimed that Robert Downey Jr. would be making his comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While speaking to Vanity Fair, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige set the record straight on Downey Jr’s MCU future – it will never happen.

We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again. We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.

Robert Downey Jr. had a terrific 2023 thanks to his incredible role in Oppenheimer, where he had an Oscar-worthy performance. It remains to be seen whether the former MCU star will end up having an incredible 2024 as well.
