Jennifer Lawrence has had several embarrassing moments caught on camera, like the time she tripped as she walked to the stage to receive her Oscars award, and in another situation, spilled mints while doing an interview. Despite the awkwardness, the Causeway actress makes it look so adorable.
Aside from doing drama, Lawrence is also a natural-born comedian. In many of her interviews, she has displayed her great sense of humor and spontaneity when it comes to throwing back witty remarks. She even made one absolutely cringe-worthy interview very funny.
Jennifer Lawrence Roasted Zach Galifianakis For Calling Her “Ugly”
Appearing on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis for Funny or Die, Winter’s Bone actress Jennifer Lawrence responded to a very harsh statement that would make anyone feel uncomfortable. The host deliberately said:
“I got a beef to pick with your co-star Bradley Cooper because he had told me that in real life you were… ugly.”
Lawrence’s sweet smile immediately faded as Galifianakis tried to explain what he stated. He continued:
“I gotta be honest, I don’t know what he’s talking about unless he was just joking with me. You’re really good-looking.”
The actress remained silent, filling the room with awkwardness, and giving the viewers secondhand embarrassment. Galifianakis tried to swerve the topic on her most famous movie, The Hunger Games. As he mentioned the title, Lawrence had the chance to get back at him. She remarked:
“Yeah, isn’t that your life story?”
The host responded with a serious look on his face, telling the No Hard Feelings star to not say something like that because it is off-putting. For the second time, Lawrence dissed him again in a very clever wordplay:
“You should be off pudding… because you’re fat. You shouldn’t eat any more pudding.”
Looking very offended, Galifianakis changed the subject again and asked her what made her take a project like Silver Linings Playbook. As Lawrence starts speaking, the host slowly reaches for the red button, a signal for the assistant to fetch the actress and take her away from the camera frame.
Jennifer Lawrence Believes Fat-Shaming On TV Should Be Illegal
In another interview with The Guardian, Jennifer Lawrence said that calling someone fat on-air should be a crime. Ironically, this was published ten months after she appeared on Zach Galifianakis’ show. The American Hustle star claimed:
“So then all of a sudden being funny is making fun of the girl that’s wearing an ugly dress… and the word fat. I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. If we’re regulating cigarettes and s*x and cuss words because of the effect they have on our younger generation, why aren’t we regulating things like calling people fat?”
Nevertheless, Lawrence is one of the few talented celebrities who can equally fight with witty one-liners and make an awkward situation hilariously entertaining.
