With its distinctive perspective on the Wasteland, the Fallout TV series is set to premiere in a few days. The much-awaited series, a joint project from Bethesda Game Studios and Amazon Prime Video, is based on the best role-playing video game franchise (Fallout) and follows Ella Purnell’s Lucy as she moves from Vault 33 to a devastated Los Angeles.
Who knows what Lucy will find in the city of LA?
However, the first trailers for Fallout depict a crazy adventure full of iconic images that will excite fans of the series and pique the interest of those of you who have never picked up this game. Co-executive producer Jonathan Nolan, along with actors Walton Goggins and Aaron Moten (who plays Brotherhood of Steel squire Maximus in the series), recently discussed the show and all things related.
Moten expressed his confusion about Maximus’ costume, causing a surge of interest among viewers.
Jonathan Nolan Smartly Addresses Aaron Moten’s Confusion About Maximus
Amazon’s Fallout series, created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan and starring Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Aaron Moten, will delve into a new narrative within the post-apocalyptic world.
To stimulate interest in the upcoming TV series, the creators have been aggressively promoting the already popular show. During the interviews, they divulged a great deal of information about it and the Fallout video game franchise in general. So what’s the hype about?
In reference to the TV show’s vibrant and healthy vibe, Nolan revealed that the series’ rich storytelling presents a plethora of fresh creative possibilities for illustrators. He shared with GamesRadar:
“Fallout, in my career, is closest to the work we did in adapting Batman, where there’s so much storytelling in the Batman universe that there is no canonical version of it, so you’re free to invent your own.”
Though most people are familiar with the Brotherhood of Steel from the Fallout series, Nolan and Joy created the new character Maximus, played by Moten. Although not much is known about him, he is one of the three main characters in the upcoming live-action video game adaptation.
In the trailer, he can be seen donning a military-themed costume, suggesting that this is certainly a significant role. When asked what he thought when he saw his costume, Moten said (via IMDb):
“My first thought was, ‘What do these buckles do?’”
In response, Nolan said:
“In Season 2 we will let you know.”
That was indeed a clever response! The series has encountered several challenges since its 2020 announcement. Due to the pandemic’s aftermath and the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes, the production was postponed, leaving fans impatient to see the Fallout universe brought to life on a smaller screen.
Showrunner Discusses the Potential for Fallout Season 2
Graham Wagner, co-showrunner of Fallout, discussed the likelihood of a second season last month. Ahead of the premiere of the series, Wagner stated in an interview with Total Film (via ComicBook) that a second season is being planned. In his remarks, he hinted that the season 1 finale of the show essentially sets the stage for more adventures to come.
To quote him:
“It’s an uncertain time in television. So the art form of season finales has become: provide enough closure, but leave the door open for more. But we feel we’ve barely scratched the surface of the Fallout universe. We literally have documents and documents of stuff that we’re, in success, eager to dig into. Our fingers are crossed that we’re going to get the opportunity to do all that stuff.”
Well, it is obvious that Amazon is waiting to see how well-received Season 1 is by viewers, which is why Fallout Season 2 has not been approved yet. The effects-heavy plot of season 1 makes it likely quite an investment, so the streamer will want to make sure there is enough interest in the second season to justify spending more money on it.
Fallout is set to premiere on Prime Video on April 11, 2024.
