“When the Cruise deal was announced, everyone was like, ‘Oh! He’s gonna do Edge of Tomorrow!’ like that’s not what he is going up to f**king Warner Bros for –  He’s looking to tell original stories, stories that are meant to be seen on big screen.”

Recently, Cruise signed a deal with Warner Bros to create films throughout 2024 and fans initially hoped to see more of Cruise’s blockbusters like a second part of Edge of Tomorrow, however, Deadline has reported that Cruise is looking for a change as he hopes to work with auteur directors. Cruise has made enough money throughout his career, it’s clear now that the actor is focused on winning his first Academy Award.

It seems like Cruise has already started working towards his Best Actor Academy Award as Deadline also revealed Cruise will appear in a movie directed by Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Iñárritu wrote the original script and it will be his first English-language movie since his 2015 movie, The Revenant, but that’s everything we know about the film so far. Over the past decade, fans got to see Cruise showcasing his talent in his billion-dollar movie franchises like Mission: Impossible films and Top Gun franchise, so now this new deal with WB will let Cruise explore different genres.

This film will definitely give Cruise a platform to openly experiment with his acting skills as an actor. Despite being a legendary superstar, Cruise has never won an Oscar. He has been nominated for the Best Actor Award twice and that was also over two decades ago. With this deal with Warner Bros, Cruise can definitely bag an Academy Award. Thanks to Cruise’s popularity, the actor’s participation in indie movies will also help popularize many auteur directors among a wider audience.
