Insomniac Games have officially responded to the cyberattack they experienced this past week. Information leaked including their upcoming projects like Marvel’s Wolverine, but also personal information of current and former employees.
In the statement, they addressed the stolen data and are continuing to support their staff at this time of need. While the information released online showed a ton of what’s to come for Insomniac Games, they call themselves “resilient,” just like Logan, and will continue to move forward with Marvel’s Wolverine on the Sony PlayStation 5.
Insomniac Games’ Statement: The Future
In their statement, Insomniac Games addressed what’s been going on behind the scenes ever since Rhysida released millions of files online, including upcoming Insomniac Games projects and their slated schedule beyond 2030.
The worst part about this attack is the personal/sensitive information of employees at the PlayStation studio. Because of the sheer size of this attack, Insomniac Games needed time to figure out what was breached and how they could get back on their feet. In the statement, they said:
Thank you for the outpouring of compassion and unwavering support. It’s deeply appreciated.
They are not only sad but angered at the attack as they continue to support each other internally and quickly figure out what data was impacted.
This experience has been extremely distressing for us.
While this attack will slow down Insomniac Games’ development of Marvel’s Wolverine, they plan to continue development on the project.
We want everyone to enjoy the games we develop as intended and as our players deserve. However, like Logan, Insomniac is resilient…The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans.
Insomniac Games closed this statement by thanking everyone once more for their ongoing support during this event. They will officially show more of Marvel’s Wolverine when the time is right.
‘Stolen Data is Not Leaked Info’ Says Insomniac Games Employee
Now that the studio has officially addressed the situation, some employees at the Sony studio are now free to talk about the attack. James Stevenson, Community Director at Insomniac Games, made a simple tweet quoting the Insomniac Games statement:
Stolen data – not leaked info
Criminal hackers – not leakers
Pirated builds – not leaked demos

Calling this cyberattack on the PlayStation studio any other leak would be an understatement. The group went out of their way to gather millions of files from Insomniac Games and tried to ransomware it for over $2 million.
Other Insomniac Games employees have also come forward on Twitter/X to talk about the cyberattack. From writers to animators, they thank everyone for their support over this past week with some sharing the same sentiment as Stevenson: this was not a leak.
Personal information of current and past employees at the PlayStation team leaked as well, giving this event a much larger human element than other leaks.
In addition, builds of Marvel’s Wolverine have now surfaced online which if downloaded, you will receive a DMCA strike from your ISP. As Stevenson puts it, pirated builds are not leaked demos nor should these criminal hackers be called leakers.
The Washington Post games reporter, Gene Park, added to Insomniac Games’ response and said:
Love you Insomniac. MVP of the console generation.

The PlayStation Studios company has been on the PlayStation 5 train since its launch with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The year after, they would drop Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, their longest running franchise that started on the PlayStation 2, and has lived on to the PS5.
Now, we have Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and soon, Marvel’s Wolverine. They will continue to develop Marvel’s Wolverine at Insomniac Games for the PlayStation 5.
When the title will be released is unknown, but after this cyberattack, let’s give the Sony studio a break. They will show us the project in the future, when it’s officially ready.
