Just as Marvel was starting to pick up its pace again, the franchise has been shaken from its roots to its very peak. The news of Jonathan Majors’ arrest has not only put the entirety of MCU’s future at risk but adds to the negativity mounting against the CBM franchise after the Victoria Alonso firing. Kevin Feige now faces an increasingly disruptive vision for the franchise which, if not damaged yet, is well on its way there.

Jonathan Majors: Incident, Arrest, and Controversy Explained
In New York on the 24th of March (Friday), Jonathan Majors reportedly got into an altercation with his girlfriend while returning from a bar in Brooklyn. The MCU actor was reported to the authorities on Saturday morning and was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment. The news first broke on the 25th after TMZ reported the status of his arrest. Currently, Majors is out of custody and his representatives have commented: “He’s done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”

Following the incident, several Hollywood directors have come forward to claim that they have known Majors to be a violent and sociopathic character, long before he blew up on the industry frontiers, but refrained from coming forward considering the people involved would not favor being involved in a media and public scrutiny. The Broadway actor and director, Tim Nicolai, also shared in a now-deleted post:
“I’m just gonna say this about Jonathan Majors and be done with it: folks at Yale and the broader NYC community have known about him for years. He’s a sociopath and abuser and that is how virtually everyone speaks about him. It’s a shame it took this long for him to be reported.”
Filmmaker A.B. Allen, back in February, spoke about an actor who has recently blown up on the social front and among the Hollywood fanbase, and who, in reality, is “a vicious, cruel, abusive human being, both professionally and in his personal life.” After the news of Majors’ arrest broke, Allen confirmed that it was the Marvel actor that he had been referring to.

Jonathan Majors’ Arrest & What It Means For Marvel
Jonathan Majors stepped onto the Marvel platform as its next Big Bad after the Mad Titan Thanos’s rampage across the galaxy came to a spectacular close. With Kevin Feige’s vision for the foreseeable future already mapped out in bold letters, it now becomes a thing of worry to have Majors (who stands as the singular binding thread of the Multiverse Saga’s plot and is heavily involved in the culmination of the Avengers 6 narrative) to upend the entire blueprint of Phases Five and Six.
The fandom, which is left gasping at the implications of Majors’ arrest, has now taken to Twitter to comment on what it means for Marvel.

The incident takes place within a week of Marvel firing its VFX President, Victoria Alonso, causing a major shockwave to pass through the fandom. Reports of maintaining terrible workplace conditions have been cited as the reason behind her contract’s termination. Now, Jonathan Majors’ arrest has put Marvel in a tight spot: either keep the actor and face immense backlash or recast him as Kang the Conqueror and let the franchise down a road of uncertainty.
