This article contains spoilers for Invincible comics and web series
Invincible Season 2 has introduced its biggest twists yet in Episode 4, bringing in lots of characters and fascinating plot points into the show. Among characters like Armstrong Levy and Thadeus, the show recently introduced the Viltrumite Empire’s most loyal high-ranking member in the form of General Kregg.
General Kregg made his debut in Episode 4 of Invincible, to let Mark know what his future in the empire is going to look like. Dropping down to dictate to Mark his fate in the Viltrumite empire, Viltrum’s most loyal has left quite the mark on the show. The character has quite a history in the comics and serves as an important secondary character.
General Kregg lost his eye to the deadliest virus in the Universe
The Coalition of Planets is the only thing standing between The Viltrum Empire and universal domination. While Episode 3 introduced us to one of its secret weapons against Vilturmites, Allen the Alien, the Coalition has maintained and created several deadly weapons to combat the Empire, including the most deadly Virus in the Universe.
The Scourge Virus, a dreadful disease that caused Kregg to lose an eye, was unleashed upon the Viltrum Empire by the coalition in a bid to wipe them out. The Empire faced widespread repercussions because of the disease, causing almost 99.9% of Viltumites to die out.
Given how brutal the society is with its ideology of might makes right, the empire’s population dwindled. It really speaks to the empire’s ability to maintain power across the universe even with so much of its population decimated.

General Kregg is a mainstay in Invincible
Throughout the regime changes in the empire, Kregg has always had the interest of the Viltrumite empire at heart. Be it under the leadership of Thragg, the supposedly strongest Viltrumite to ever exist, or Nola, the rightful king of the Viltrum Empire, or Mark, the heir to the throne of the Vilturmite people.
No matter what the regime has been, General Kregg has been loyal to the Viltrumite people. The man has served the empire to the best of his ability, serving emperors like a servant, monarchs as an adviser, and the people as a proud member of the Viltrumite Race.
