Being in the limelight is second nature for Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow. But the Iron Man actor has had her share of unwanted time in the public eye as well. Paltrow has been involved in an ongoing civil trial against a retired optometrist Dr. Terry Sanderson for the past 6 years. Sanderson accused the actor of crashing into him while skiing in Deer Valley Resort.
The full body hit resulted in Sanderson breaking 4 ribs along with other traumatic injuries that seriously affected the doctor’s personal life and health. The plaintiff who sued Paltrow for causing harm also commented on the actor’s lack of empathy claiming that she did not stop to enquire if he was ok. Gwyneth Paltrow was called to trial last week and grilled extensively on the stand by Sanderson’s attorney.

Actor Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in an LA courtroom on Tuesday to defend herself against claims by 76-year-old Dr. Terry Sanderson who sued her for grave injuries that he sustained during a headlong crash with the star on the ski slopes. Paltrow for her part maintained firmly that she followed all rules as instructed stating that it was, in fact, Sanderson who was at fault and not her. The wellness guru also spoke about the terror she felt after the horrible crashing experience.
The actor then proved why she was the queen of epic replies with her next statement. When asked by Sanderson’s attorney if this incident put a dampener on the rest of her vacation, Paltrow replied without hesitation,
“Well, I lost half a day of skiing, yes,”
While Paltrow’s tongue-in-cheek jibe highlighted her wry humor, it also gave rise to debates on the alleged insensitivity of celebrities when it comes to owning up to mistakes. Sanderson meanwhile is suing Paltrow for a little more than 300,000 dollars after initially trying to get over 1 million dollars from her.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s comment in court about losing half a day of a ski vacation is already going viral. While the actor’s comments in the trial are already inspiring memes, a few other celebrities and fans are also slamming the star for exhibiting insensitive behavior. Actor Busy Phillips too jumped on the trend and shared an Instagram post using Paltrow’s one-liner as her caption. While Phillips may have meant the jibe as a support to Paltrow, others were brutal in their takedown of the star.

With celebrities already being typcast as vain and arrogant, Gwyneth Paltrow’s comments have added more fuel to the fire. The trial which commenced on tuesday is expected to wrap up within eight days.
