A few weeks ago, James Gunn called out a website for spreading misinformation to the fans, making them get all hopeful and excited about Henry Cavill’s DCU future. He stated that only he and Peter Safran know what’s up with the studios. Now, after keeping the fans in the dark for a while, the duo got straight to business and one of their initial steps was to remove Henry Cavill’s Superman from the DCU.

With Henry Cavill out of both his popular roles – Superman and Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher – fans were left wondering what’s next for him. Apart from the actor being in the run for the next James Bond, he’s also rumored to be a part of another popular franchise – James Cameron’s Avatar.

When all hope for a Man of Steel sequel turned to dust, fans of Henry Cavill wanted to know where and when will the actor turn up next. Well, now it looks like there is a possibility that Cavill will be integrated into the star cast of the Avatar franchise.

According to Giant Freaking Robot and their trusted sources, Cavill will be seen in the fourth movie of Avatar. However, there has been no confirmation about his entry into the franchise, let alone the character he will be playing. Adding to the fuel of emerging rumors, Cavill showed up at the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water in Los Angeles. Fans are certainly a bit confused about this one!

An Insane Script for Avatar 4

James Cameron stated that he has plans about extending the Avatar franchise well beyond the third movie. However, the clause was that if The Way of Water ends up working wonders at the box office and is well-received by the audience, only then will he be moving forward with the franchise. On the other hand, if the recently released sequel doesn’t do as well as Cameron had hoped, he will wrap up the franchise in just three films.

If the franchise does finish in three movies, the audience might be robbed of an insane script. According to Cameron, when he submitted the script to the studios, the studio executive had no notes for the director; the script was just that good. This was obviously an upgrade considering the fact that for The Way of Water he was handed three pages of notes from the studio and for the third film he received a single page.

I can’t tell you the details, but all I can say is that when I turned in the script for [The Way of Water] the studio gave me 3 pages of notes. And when I turned in the script for 3, they gave me a page of notes, so I was getting better. When I turned in the script for 4, the studio executive, the creative executive over the films, wrote me an email that said, ‘Holy f**k.’ And I said, ‘Well, where are the notes?’ And she said, ‘Those are the notes.’ Because it kind of goes nuts in a good way, right?”

Looks like if the rumors of Cavill being a part of the fourth movie are true, both he and the audience are in for a treat! The Way of Water has so far received a 78% score for 304 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and a 94% audience score. Looking at the reception of the sequel, Cameron just might move forward with the franchise, after all!
