During the premiere of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in 2015, Henry Cavill had to do a double take to believe he was seeing Shakira in person for the first time. The adorable fanboying quickly turned into an internet project where a fan club devoted entirely to the two stars is making ends meet to pair up the two celebrities together. Now, the resurfaced 2015 video is making a comeback in fan circles, especially after the infamous and messy Shakira-Piqué split.

Henry Cavill and Shakira Are the New Talk of the Town

Henry Cavill is grabbing all the headlines this year, whether it be due to his incredible comeback to the DCU franchise after 5 years of crushed hopes and utter silence or his unwarranted exit from Netflix’s The Witcher amid speculations of bad writing and creative differences. But the buzz that takes the cake is the rumors of the Man of Steel star gushing over the Colombian singer and global icon, Shakira, and a reciprocation of the same on the latter’s part.

The rumors first began in 2015 when Cavill spotted Shakira at his own film’s premiere and asked bewildered, “Is that Shakira?” Even though it was a simple fanboy moment, it was built into a massive mountain of dramatic speculation which kept snowballing into an idolization of the idea of the two celebrities getting together. Despite Shakira being in a relationship then, and Cavill happily committed to his partner now, the rumors are hesitant to die down.

The most recent surge in speculation happened during the Halloween festivities when the singer was seen wearing a Wonder Woman costume. Even though it’s a far-fetched dream, the fans connected the costume’s idea to Henry Cavill’s return as Superman and leaned into the possibility that Shakira might be insinuating something without expressly saying so.

A Recap of Shakira-Piqué Drama From June-October 2022

Gerard Piqué, the FC Barcelona defender, and the Colombian pop icon Shakira ended their relationship in June 2022 after spending over a decade together. 2 months later, the news still divided mass opinions and remained a matter of speculation. In August, a tabloid article spotting Piqué with the 23-year-old student Clara Chia Marti caused a massive furor and an upheaval of support for Shakira. Even though the celebrity couple made their split official in early June of 2022, it wasn’t until late September that the Colombian pop star felt comfortable enough to publicly comment on the matter.

Even though 4 months pales in comparison to 11 years, Shakira did come to terms with the separation and spoke about the “incredibly difficult” split from her long-time partner and the father to both her young children. In the cover issue of ELLE magazine’s October issue, the singer spoke of her disappointment on seeing her relationship being turned into “something vulgarized and cheapened by the media” thus putting an end to rumors about an affair on Piqué’s part causing the couple to break up.
