Isla Fisher is one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood, who has graced the silver screen with her charismatic persona and has worked with enough A-list celebrities, including legendary actor Johnny Depp. The actress co-starred with Depp in their shared 2011 American computer-animated Western comedy film Rango, and both did phenomenal voice work.

Nevertheless, most of the scenes were filmed in reality to make them seem authentic, and the film director Gore Verbinski convinced the actors involved in the project to perform their parts physically. Fisher once shared that she turned down filming an intimate scene with her co-star because she was sick that day. 

Many actresses have gushed about sharing kissing scenes in the movie with The Black Mass film star on several occasions, and his Rango movie co-star later spilled that she regretted refusing to kiss him, saying, “What was I thinking? It’s Johnny Depp.”

Isla Fisher has done numerous blockbuster, iconic movies in her career. The actress has given memorable performances in each of her projects. In 2011, she co-starred with Johnny Depp in their shared computer-animated Western comedy film Rango, in which all the stars involved with the project filmed many sequences in real-life to make the movie even more intriguing.

The actress once shared that she was supposed to kiss Depp’s character in the flick, but she refused. In a candid interview, she narrated the episode,  “Yeah, I was supposed to kiss him, but on the day, I had a little cold, and I didn’t want to do that to him,” Isla Fisher, who is married to actor-comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, added,

“He’s the second sexiest man in the world after my husband.”

In a previous interview, she shared that she regretted not kissing him, “Although we were only voicing the characters, we were encouraged to actually act out scenes.” The Australian native star continued, 

“It came to the scene where my character kisses Johnny’s, but I ducked out as I had a really bad cold, and I didn’t want him to catch it,” adding, “Afterwards I was like, ‘What was I thinking? It’s Johnny Depp.’ Maybe I should have just got the kiss and given him the germs.”

Fisher claimed that she turned down filming a kissing scene with Johnny Depp because she had a cold on the day of the shoot and did not want him to get sick as well.

Isla Fisher on Playing Johnny Depp’s Love Interest in Rango

In an interview, the Wedding Daze movie star shared her experience working on the 2011 animated film Rango. Isla Fisher talked about playing her character Beans a goodhearted desert iguana, while her co-star Johnny Depp played her love interest Rango. Talking about her role in the flick, she said, 

“She’s definitely a character who has a strong sense of her own identity. I think that’s why Rango is attracted to her. She’s a tough-talking, feisty, smart lizard who doesn’t need to be rescued in the movie, which is what I like.”

Gore Verbinski-directed titular movie earned critical acclaim and won Best Animated Feature at the 84th Academy Awards. The film grossed over $245.7 and it boasts a star-studded cast featuring Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Ned Beatty, Alfred Molina, and Bill Nighy, among more.
