Messi was Seen Attending the Oscars 2024 in a Bow-Tie
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer might have won several Oscars at the 96th Academy Awards, but the spotlight was indeed stolen by the adorable border collie Messi, from Best Picture nominee Anatomy of a Fall. Launching his Hollywood career with his stellar performance in Justine Triet’s Oscar-nominated film, the famous pooch eventually melted hearts when he attended the Oscars event.
Appearing in a spiffy bow tie, the Palm Dog Award recipient Messi was seen perched in a seat at the 2024 Oscars in Los Angeles on Sunday night. With his tongue hanging out as he wagged his tail in excitement, the border collie was humorously acknowledged by the ceremony host Jimmy Kimmel, as per Page Six.
Highlighting Messi’s impactful performance as Snoop, in Anatomy of a Fall and touching upon the overdose scene that left quite the impression on audiences, Jimmy Kimmel continued to host the event. Although the canine’s presence at the Oscars was enough to melt hearts, at one point, he was also spotted being a supportive companion of his colleagues and was captured applauding with his paws.

While it’s true that Messi’s appearance at the Oscars stole the spotlight and melted hearts of fans, it was also curious for some, as to how the famous pooch managed to be seated for so long, among the crowd. Digging into the matter, a few fans eventually found clips showing how the border collie’s appearance at the Oscars was all pre-recorded.
Pulling off the veil of deception, netizens brought the video to the limelight showing how the adorable moments from the event, featuring Messi were a lie. The point, where the pooch is seen clapping with paws at the Oscars, is also visible in the pre-recorded clip. Infuriated at how the Academy Awards deceived fans, netizens called out the committee.

However, despite being enraged by the deception, fans seemed to forgive the Oscars because violence can be “pawblematic”. Moreover, justifying Oscars’ decision with reasons and logic, netizens realized it would have been indeed stressful for Messi to be seated among waves of people, surrounded by bright lights and noise.
