The John Wick franchise has introduced many new characters throughout its existence. In John Wick 4, the audience got to witness British actress Natalia Tena in the role of Katia, John Wick’s surrogate sister.
Previously, during an interview, the actress reflected on her experience working alongside the legendary actor Keanu Reeves. The actress praised Reeves for his supportive nature. When the actress was asked about filming a particular scene, she described it as ‘Incarnation’.
Which John Wick 4 scene made Natalia Tena feel ‘Incarnated’?
John Wick 4, features Natalia Tena as John Wick’s surrogate sister, Katia, who is also the leader of the German branch of the Ruska Roma. Not much has been revealed in the film about the past life of Tena’s character, except that she was raised by Pyotr, who is also a father figure to John Wick.
Further, in the film, certain events lead to John Wick’s encounter with the antagonist Killa, who kills Katia’s father Pyotr. Desperate to avenge her father’s death, Katia asks John Wick to kill Killa. And when the task is accomplished, Katia welcomes John back to the family and gives him a brand of their crest on his arm, getting a matching one on her arm at the same time.
During the interview, Tena was asked how she felt while filming this particular scene, to which she replied by saying,
“I think it’s a really fun scene because she’s making it … I felt like a witch — that’s what I felt like. I felt like this is my cauldron and, especially because I was speaking Russian, it felt like an incantation and it felt like bringing him back. And also, it felt like that’s the first time her grief has been able to go, like, “Fine, we’ve done it. I’m burnt. I’m having a shot of vodka. Retribution is done.”
The actress further claimed that she enjoyed filming the scene.
Natalia Tena expressed her thrill at working alongside Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves is known for her cool demeanor, and it’s something that probably the whole Hollywood industry agrees with. Natalia Tena has the same perspective as the actor. When asked about her experience working with Reeves, the actress said,
“He’s lovely. He is as lovely as everyone says. He’s calm and personable.”
The actress went on to share that what she experienced while working with Reeves was something she never experienced with any other actor. He often used to spend time and talk to the actress, which made her feel very comfortable. Tena said
“He would find me when I’d be outside having a vape [and] we’d have a bit of a chat. So there was an element of that. He was trying to at least make me feel comfortable in the situation, which he didn’t have to do at all. So that was lovely.”
In John Wick 4, it was the first time Reeves and Tena appeared together.
