Jake Gyllenhaal recently opened up in an interview with Inquirer and talked about how Doug Liman’s remake of Road House is going to be a lot different than the original movie. He said,

“Fans of the original movie can look forward to a new form of action and fighting. We developed a whole new fight choreography for this, in which you’ll see how actors in a movie take hits [in action scenes] that has never been done before.

But as you mentioned, it has a more sense of humor that makes it even more appealing. There’s a real absurdist quality to the whole film, which I adore. It really runs the whole gamut. You get everything that you want—which in my opinion is important these days, especially because it’s a movie that brings joy and laughter to people.”

Jake Gyllenhaal further revealed that he has ended up watching the movie multiple times himself and he still ends up laughing out loud on every rewatch.

Is Jake Gyllenhaal’s Road House remake better than the original movie?

Ever since a remake of Rowdy Herrington’s Road House was announced, the fans of the movie have been divided as they argue amongst themselves whether a remake is a good or bad thing. Although Jake Gyllenhaal is an amazing actor, fans of the original movie are not too sure if the American actor will be able to fill the shoes of Patrick Swayze.

In a recent interview with Inquirer, even Gyllenhaal appreciated Patrick Swayze’s role in Road House. While explaining what will be different in his remake from the original movie, the Prisoners actor said,

“I mean, it’s different … it’s a reimagining of the whole idea. Obviously, there’s no one who can beat Patrick Swayze, but really, this update is a whole other thing, you know?”
