The wait is finally over, as the first episode of Invincible season 2 is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The second season of the series arrives more than two years after the show made its debut on the streaming platform.
With season 1 featuring a gruesome battle between Omni-Man and Mark in the finale, fans cannot wait to find out what the show has in store for them. Although the focus is currently on the sophomore season of the series, creator Robert Kirkman has already started teasing the next season.
Invincible Season 3 May Release Sooner Than Anticipated
Invincible Season 2 has vastly expanded its cast. Many fans may have noticed that the animated series holds a key connection with the cast of The Walking Dead. After all, both comic book series are the brainchild of Robert Kirkman.
With that being said, the Invincible creator recently shared a huge update regarding the show’s third season in a conversation with Screen Rant.
Finishing touches on the last few bits of season 2 are being done right now. Season 3 is very far along… When I talk about the actors that we have for season 2, it is a minefield. There’s so many in season 3 that we have to talk about. If you think the cast expanded for season 2, just wait until you hear about who we’re getting in the show in season 3. That might give you an indication as to how far we’re going. There’s just so much big stuff planned… It’s possible that there may be some more Walking Dead alums that may be popping into Invincible at some point.
Considering the article was originally published in mid-October on Screen Rant, Kirkman talked about applying the finishing touches to season 2. But let’s skip that for a second and focus on Kirkman’s update about the third season.
The series creator has made huge claims about the next season featuring more actors than ever. Moreover, Kirkman hinted at adding more actors from The Walking Dead franchise.
As of now, Mark Grayson is being voiced by Steven Yeun, who portrayed the character of Glenn Rhee on The Walking Dead series. Apart from Yeun, Khary Payton, Ross Marquand, Chad Coleman, and Sonequa Martin-Green have also lent their voice for minor roles in Invincible.
How Many Seasons Will Invincible Have?
The second season of the series is divided into two parts, with episode one of part two streaming on Prime Video right now. Both parts will feature four episodes each, with the latter part releasing in 2024.
But what are Robert Kirkman’s plans for Invincible beyond the second season? Well, Kirkman has already planned how many seasons the show will feature.
Kirkman wants the show to stream for seven to eight seasons in order to cover the entire comic. Moreover, the plan is to avoid adding fillers and stick to the original content.
