Actor, producer, writer, and director, John Krasinski got married to Hollywood actor Emily Blunt in 2010. They are one of the most adored couples in Hollywood. Krasinski who had already made his appealing portrayal of Jim Halpert in The Office, had to get in shape in Michael Bay’s 2016 action war movie 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

For the movie, the 43-year-old had to shed 21 percent of his total body fat to play a Navy SEAL. He liked getting into shape leaving his old physical appearance behind, but his wife Blunt, 40, had a different opinion.

Getting into shape for the movie was not easy for John Krasinski, however, he enjoyed it immensely.

“Priority one was building up a strong foundation again. we accomplished this the usual way with heavy squats, presses, pulls and rows,” Krasinski once said. “I’ve gotta be honest. those were brutal times. we did tons of metabolic work, dragging sleds and all the stuff I’ve seen NFL players do.”

“I had shoulder and back pain. in fact, I couldn’t even do one pull-up! getting stronger every day is thrilling! to be able to do 20 pull-ups every day…That was amazing. I went for it. oh, it’ll all turn into muscle. I didn’t really understand the science.”

Talking of his physique, the actor revealed how his wife Emily Blunt reacted.

“The truth is, she really is that person who would like me anyway,” Krasinski said. “But I don’t think she’s going to kick the eight-pack abs out of bed.”

But the actor claimed that s*x was better after being jacked. He told Elle,

“And again, totally selfishly, it is so much better for me being jacked because you feel so much more confident and you see yourself as this much more sexual person, which is really fun.”

However, the Oppenheimer star had a different opinion of Krasinski’s physique.

A Quiet Place and Sicario star Blunt has played many action roles in her career and spent most of her time in the gym preparing for the same action roles she played. But when it came to her husband getting into shape, she was not very happy. Appearing on  Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show, Krasinski revealed that Blunt was not a fan of his physical transformation.

“She hates it. She would way prefer to have doughy guy back,” Krasinski joked explaining “doughy” as “like sweet-face.”  The actor further joked saying he “looked like that in The Office,” but “You just didn’t see it much,” he said. But Blunt has gone through extreme training on many occasions and that was quite worrisome for her husband. Krasinski said,

“I watched her fight train, because we trained out in the same gym. And then she did very extreme fight training, and I walked by a door just to be like, ‘Hey! How’s it going?’ And she was punching and elbowing this bag that was starting to open with, like, fluff in it, and all I could think was, ‘Please don’t have a nightmare tonight! Please don’t have a nightmare tonight!'”

Despite Blunt’s fitness, she hated the MCU star’s physical transformation. The actor went on to perform several roles in many films and shows later but the extremity of transformation was never like 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

Blunt recently appeared in Oppenheimer, currently running in theaters. The actor is also set to appear in David Yates’ Netflix drama Pain Hustlers which is set to release on September this year. Later, she will star in The Fall Guy. Blunt will also collaborate again with Krasinski in A Quiet Place: Day One, scheduled for the 8 March 2024 release, and Krasinski-directed 2024 fantasy comedy Imaginary Friends
