James Gunn Faces Backlash Over Superman Suit (Again)

The world has gone into chaos ever since Henry Cavill departed The Witcher franchise and was subsequently removed from his role as Superman in the DCU. After some time, Gunn revealed that David Corenswet was the new Superman in his film.

Recently, the first look of Corenswet as Superman was revealed. Although the post received a fair share of backlash, most people were happy that Superman was given his originality back with the help of the suit.

The fans who praised James Gunn’s penchant for originality are now turning their backs on the director since another look of Superman was revealed.

Although James Gunn may have had a love for originality, fans think that the trunks look ridiculous. On the other hand, in the talks of ‘superhero fatigue’, The Boys actor Antony Starr included Gunn in his conversation.

With the actor and the director working in the superhero genre, they certainly know about the term ‘superhero fatigue’. However, Antony Starr had an opposite view on things and he even talked about James Gunn!

Antony Starr To Join James Gunn’s DCU?

Admit it, Homelander is basically the evil version of Superman. With The Boys going big and breaking every superhero stereotype known to humanity, Starr has been recognized worldwide as Homelander.

Well, the world has been speculating whether James Gunn and Antony Starr would join hands in the future. In an interview with CinemaBlend, the actor revealed that people are not tired of superheroes but they are actually hungry for them!

I don’t think the audience is fatigued, let me put it that way. I think the audience is hungry. We were just down in Mexico doing a CCXP down there. And they are hungry as hell for superhero content.

He further continued,

[I’m] very curious to see what happens around any notion of superhero fatigue when James Gunn’s superhero (projects) come out.

With the statements, it seems that there’s a little bit of a chance that Antony Starr and James Gunn will work together in the DCU sometime in the future. At this moment, however, nothing can be confirmed or denied.

On the other hand, James Gunn and David Corenswet’s Superman is set for a release date of 11 July 2025 in theaters across the world.
