From broke to ‘bazinga!’ in one season—that was Kunal Nayyar’s meteoric rise to fame on The Big Bang Theory. But with a net worth skyrocketing to $45 million, things got a little too real for the newly minted TV star.

Playing the character of Rajesh Koothrappali on TBBT, the actor admitted that this newfound success went straight to his head. In an interview for ‘The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit series,’ via The Things, Nayyar alluded,

I was saying things that were ridiculous and behaving in a way that was not really me. I was just a kid and way out of my depth.

Apparently, Nayyar’s behavior became so erratic that it raised red flags for Lorre. One dinner with the cast, the British-born actor boasted about making millions in Bollywood during the show’s hiatus. Fearing Nayyar might ditch The Big Bang Theory for a quick cash grab, creator Chuck Lorre staged a heart-to-heart. Lorre said in the same interview:

I got the impression on a couple of outings… I remember him saying during that dinner in San Diego that he could go to India during the hiatus and do movies and make millions of dollars. It just seemed inappropriate.

While Kunal Nayyar’s ego took a temporary hit, he eventually understood the message. The actor soon realized the TBBT team was there for him and all they needed was for him to slow down and not make rushed decisions. A timely intervention that saved both The Big Bang Theory and, perhaps, Nayyar’s Hollywood career.

And guess what? It seems he’d love to return for more! “Yaaaaassssssssss. Have Martini back!” Nayyar commented on Rauch’s post.

Fans are shocked by this mysterious message, even though there’s been no public confirmation of a reunion yet. Could Raj be giving up his job in the physics lab to go to court? Time will tell, but one thing is certain: Kunal Nayyar’s comment has made Big Bang Theory fans all the more excited for Night Court‘s third season!
