Henry Cavill has been flirting with the fantasy genre for quite some time now. After his involvement in the Netflix series, The Witcher, based on games and books of the same name, it would seem that a completely new demographic has been found for him and audiences cannot wait to see him in more roles that are similar in feeling to that of Geralt of Rivia.

This has become especially true after the actor parted ways with the series, for reasons that are far too vague and unconfirmed. This, however, has sparked a surge of fans, who want justice for an actor who has been done wrong in their eyes.

This justice came in the form of the Highlander reboot, something Cavill has become a part of as the central character. It would seem, however, that this upcoming project may end up clashing with the actor’s past, as the Highlander reboot and The Witcher’s fourth season, which would star Liam Hemsworth in Cavill’s role, may end up getting released around the same time.

Highlander’s Director Talks About Release Dates

Chad Stahelski, best known for his work in the John Wick franchise, recently gave an interview with Collider, where he talked about one of his most anticipated upcoming projects, The Highlander reboot. Specifically, the director talked about if the project has a release date as of yet. He stated that though they do not have a date yet, it is expected that the film will start shooting as soon as possible.

“We do not have a date, but let’s say within a year. [Laughs] Soon. Soon as I can. I’ve been developing two shows side by side: Ghost of Tsushima and Highlander. Those are the ones that I love.” he went on, “I’ve been trying to do Highlander now for eight years. I’d really love to do it. All the tumblers seem to be in play, and if everything goes well, we get finished with this strike, and our schedules all work out, it looks very, very probable.”

He added that he has a lot on his plate, with a lot of upcoming projects that he is anticipating, however, this is one he is most excited about, one of the biggest reasons for this being the fact that he has been developing this for over eight years now. He then added that if everything goes as planned and the writers’ strike does not intervene, shooting is expected to start in about a year, which would put the release at some time in 2025.

Henry Cavill Would Compete With His Past

With this update, it is extremely difficult to not see the possibility of Henry Cavill’s past and present clashing together. The reason for this is the fact that, while rumors and speculations earlier suggested that The Witcher’s fourth season could come out sometime in 2024, it seems highly unlikely considering the SAG-AFTRA strike forced production to stop for a majority of projects, delaying them for a later time.

With this and looking at things more realistically, it is much more likely that this season of the series will come out sometime in 2025. This means that production and even release of these two projects could happen simultaneously, causing the awkwardness of this situation to be the least of Cavill’s worries.
