Margot Robbie’s Hollywood career has been nothing short of phenomenal, with acclaimed performances in hit movies like The Wolf of Wall Street, Suicide Squad, and Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood. The actress will soon be seen taking on the lead role opposite Ryan Gosling in the much-anticipated film Barbie.
Despite achieving household name status in the entertainment industry, the actress has been notoriously private about her romantic life. Due to this secrecy, her fans find it difficult to discern who may have been a part of her dating history prior to her marriage to Tom Ackerley.
How Did Margot Robbie Meet her Husband
During an interview with Vogue in May 2016, Margot Robbie revealed about her romantic pursuits, saying that she had embraced her status as “the ultimate single gal” before tying the knot. She also divulged information about how she met her husband, Tom Ackerley.
“The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me,” Robbie said referring to her relationship with Ackerley. “We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’ And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'”
The duo crossed paths for the first time on the set of Suite Francaise, a WWII movie, in 2013. Tom was serving as an assistant director at the time. After a year, they took the plunge and established LuckyChap Entertainment, a production company that has since churned out numerous blockbuster hits, including Birds of Prey and the upcoming Barbie flick, in addition to the Netflix miniseries Maid.
Margot Robbie’s Dating History Over the Years
Before tying the knot with Tom Ackerley in December 2016, Margot was rumored to have been romantically involved with Alexander Skarsgård, a fellow actor, and Henry Aitken. While Margot has refrained from addressing the rumors, it was reported by E! News in January 2015 that the actress and Alexander were spotted sharing a kiss at a Sundance Film Festival after-party.
“They were there late-night holding hands,” an insider told the outlet. “Margot and Alexander definitely looked like a couple. They were very touchy-feely and, at one point, were full on kissing!”
According to reports, Margot was also briefly involved with Henry Aitken at the beginning of 2014. Their romance, however, was short-lived, as the Daily Mail disclosed that the couple had called it quits by March of the same year.
Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, will hit the theaters on July 21, 2023.
