How Robert Pattinson Made Batman Unique

Portraying and doing justice to superheroes who have already been established earlier by various actors is no easy task. Robert Pattinson who was given the challenging job of creating his version of Batman, succeeded in bringing out various unique shades of the character while also respecting his legacy. Speaking of how he combated the expected comparisons to other actors like Ben Affleck and Christian Bale who also played Batman, The Little Ashes star confessed that it pushed him to do better and work harder to create his own niche despite the risks involved.

“You can almost feel that pushback of anticipation, and so it kind of energizes you a little bit. It’s different from when you’re doing a part and there’s a possibility that no one will even see it. Right? In some ways … it makes you a little kind of spicy.”

Robert Pattinson Struggled While Filming The Batman During The Pandemic

Robert Pattinson received positive reviews for his marquee role as DC’s iconic superhero Batman in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman. The film’s dark and grey palette echoed the brooding intensity of the character which Pattinson brought out to perfection. But the journey to transform into Batman was a challenging one given that most of the filming was done during the global pandemic. This meant that the Tenet star was in isolation for a major part of the production which he confessed, affected him mentally.

“I almost immediately totally lost all sense of time. I think something two years ago could actually be a week ago. It’s definitely been a complaint about my personality.”
