Known to be one of the most accomplished stars in the history o Hollywood, Tom Cruise is often regarded as some of the best A-listers to work with on major Hollywood projects. With such a clean and illustrious track record, along with numerous accounts calling him a very kind person, it’s odd to hear Stanley Kubrick, the Late. legendary filmmaker, call out him and his then-wife Nicole Kidman for ruining his film Eyes Wide Shut while also bullying him during the production.

During a past interview, R Lee Ermey, the star who had worked with The Shining director before in Full Metal Jacket and was also a good friend of his, revealed that just 2 weeks before his death in 1999, he was contacted by him, where he told Ermey that he considered his then-upcoming film a disgrace and hated everything about it. He also blamed the lead cast of Cruise and Kidman for being the cause of the degradation of the film to what it had become in the end. Ermey said:

Stanley called me about two weeks before he died. We had a long conversation about Eyes Wide Shut. He told me it was a piece of shit and that he was disgusted with it and that the critics were going to have him for lunch. He said Cruise and Kidman had their way with him – exactly the words he used.”

While this was what was reported by Ermey, the stars of the film had completely different opinions about the film, saying that is the film Kubrick wanted at the end, also calling the experience of working with him enriching and fulfilling.
