The Brad Pitt starrer Inglourious Basterds (2009) is considered one of the most successful war movies. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Inglourious Basterds is set in World War II. In the movie, Pitt plays an undercover Jewish soldier with the mission to bring down the Nazi government. Around a year before, directed by Bryan Singer, another WW II movie, Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise released. Both the movies are huge box office successes- Inglourious Basterds earned over $321 million while Valkyrie collected $201 million.

“The Second World War could still deliver more stories and films, but I believe that Quentin put a cover on that pot,” he added.

Further, Brad Pitt believes that Inglourious Basterds has covered everything that the genre can possibly encompass. “The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story,” he argued.

Apparently, Pitt finds Inglourious Basterds has more depth to the story than Valkyrie, he also enjoyed his “a*se-kicking” role in the movie.

Neil Jordans’s Oscar-nominated gothic horror classic Interview with the Vampire stars both Hollywood A-listers. The movie was a huge box office success, however, reports indicated that Brad Pitt was “miserable” throughout filming. Pitt and Cruise have different approaches to life. After working in the film Pitt confessed, “He [Cruise] bugs me.”

In an interview with the Premier in 1995 the Fight Club actor said,

“You gotta understand, Tom and I are… we walk in different directions. He’s North Pole. I’m South. He’s coming at you with a handshake where I may bump into you, I may not, you know?”

“I always thought there was this underlying competition that got in the way of any real conversation.” Clarifying how it “wasn’t nasty by any means, not at all,” he continued.

So far, Interview with the Vampire is the only collaboration between the two Hollywood megastars.

Almost Together After Decades

After decades the two actors almost starred in the 2019 film Ford v Ferrari. Initially, Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski was considered with Brad Pitt and Cruise for the project. However, the budget of the film was unable to satisfy both the actors. Later, Matt Damon and Christian Bale joined the movie.

It appears that the actors have not settled their differences. Despite differences, Pitt has tremendous respect for the Interview with the Vampire co-star, “catches a lot of shit because he’s on top, but he’s a good actor and he advances in the film. He did it. I mean, you have to respect that,” He said. But there is no indication of leaving the cold war behind.
