Appearing in the 2018 action thriller Mission: Impossible – Fallout as Alanna Mitsopolis, the actress turned into an overnight sensation.
Meanwhile, the movie not only catapulted Vanessa Kirby’s fame but also subjected her to raunchy rumors after paparazzi released images of her kissing Tom Cruise on the French set. The actress was shocked to get romantically linked to Cruise in the spring of 2017 via The Mirror. Back then, she was already in a relationship with actor Callum Turner for about two years.
Therefore, the rumors came as a major shock to the actress. She couldn’t fathom the fact that tabloids seemingly forgot about her existing relationship. Embarrassed by how locking lips for the cameras, chatting, and laughing between takes turned into raunchy rumors, Vanessa Kirby realized it was high time she debunked the rumors. Therefore, during several interviews, as the actress began facing the same question over and over again, Kirby started breaking her silence.
“Even though the [film] crew were there, it was all [in the tabloids] like, ‘The next wife falls at his feet,’. The most disconcerting thing was the people I didn’t think would believe it, did, and they were texting my boyfriend, asking, ‘Are you OK?’ I don’t think they believe anything they read now because you just can’t… None of it is real.” Kirby told Marie Claire UK.
Further, during her interview with DailyMail, Vanessa Kirby again denied her romance rumors with Tom Cruise. Claiming how she has an existing boyfriend, Kirby noted that her partner found the rumors hilarious.
“There’s literally zero truth in it. I’ve been in a relationship for two years! The rumors came out after I’d met Tom, once, in a room full of people. We hadn’t started filming, and all of a sudden, we’re getting married! It’s so bizarre. My boyfriend found it hilarious.”
Thereafter, appearing on The View via Metro UK, Vanessa Kirby responded to rumors of dating Tom Cruise all over again. Despite shutting them down repeatedly, it seemed the speculations were all people could talk about. Thus, referring to the kissing reports, Kirby noted,
“We were filming on the river bank in Paris, and we have to kiss, and then the paparazzi [were] taking pictures. It was embarrassing. Most of all for him probably.”
Finally, after repeatedly denying the speculations, the rumors ultimately subsided months after the release of Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
